Terms of Use
Last updated: 3 November 2026
These terms apply to your use of this website and any course you buy or enrol in on it, including The Art of Open Source Analysis. The site and courses are provided by Fennequs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 17069975, whose registered office is at 20 Wenlock Road, London, England, N1 7GU ("we", "us", "our"). You can contact us at [email protected].
By creating an account or buying a course you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. You must be 18 or over to buy a course.
1. Your account
You need an account to access a course. Keep your login details private. You are responsible for everything that happens on your account. Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has used it.
2. Your licence
When you buy a course, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and use it for your own learning and professional development.
The licence is for one person. Your enrolment cannot be shared, sold, lent or transferred. If you want access for a team, newsroom or organisation, email us about a team licence.
All course content, including videos, audio, slides, text, exercises, handouts, downloads and quizzes, is owned by Fennequs Ltd or used with permission and is protected by copyright. Third-party material in the course remains the property of its owners and is credited where it appears.
3. How the course is delivered
Courses are streamed online through the Thinkific website and app. You need a reliable internet connection and an up-to-date web browser, or the Thinkific mobile app. Videos are streamed and cannot be downloaded. Some lessons include handouts and other files we provide for download.
4. What you must not do
You must not:
- share your login or let anyone else use your account
- download, record, screen capture or scrape course videos or audio, or copy other course content, except files we provide for download
- copy, re-upload, publish, resell, sublicense or distribute any part of a course, in whole or in part
- use course content to create a course, guide, summary or training product for distribution or sale, including by transcribing it or feeding it into an AI tool
- use any tool, script, extension or automated method to access or extract content from the site
- try to get around any access control, payment step or security feature
You may make notes for your own study. You may use what you learn in your own investigations and work. You may quote small extracts for review, criticism or reporting, with credit to Benjamin Strick and the course. Nothing in this section removes any right you have under copyright law that cannot be excluded by contract.
5. Comments and assignments
If you post comments or submit assignments, you keep ownership of them. You give us permission to show them to other students within the course and to use them, without your name, to improve the course. Be respectful. Do not post personal data about other people, including private individuals identified through open source research.
6. Breach of these terms
If we reasonably believe you have seriously broken section 4, for example by sharing your login or copying or distributing course content, we may suspend or close your account and remove your access to any course without a refund.
Before closing an account, we will email you with our reasons and give you 7 days to respond. We may suspend access straight away while we look into it where content is being shared or sold publicly.
We may also take legal action, including copyright takedown notices against copies published elsewhere. This section does not affect your statutory rights.
7. Prices and payment
The price you pay, including any VAT or sales tax that applies in your country, is shown at checkout before you pay. Payment is processed by Thinkific Payments, operated with Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
8. Cancellation and refunds
Your statutory right to cancel or withdraw. If you are a consumer in the UK or the European Union, you normally have 14 days from purchase to cancel or withdraw from a contract for digital content without giving a reason. By ticking the box to accept these terms at checkout, you expressly ask for immediate access to the course and acknowledge that you will lose this right once you start accessing it. We confirm this in the welcome email we send when you enrol. If you have not yet started the course, you may cancel within 14 days of purchase by emailing [email protected] or sending us the form below, and we will refund all payments within 14 days using your original payment method.
Our refund promise. On top of your legal rights, if you are unhappy with the course we will refund you in full if you ask within 14 days of purchase and have opened fewer than 20 per cent of the lessons. A lesson counts as opened when you open it in the course player, whether or not you mark it complete. We may refuse this goodwill refund, but never a refund you are entitled to by law, where we reasonably believe course content has been downloaded other than the files we provide, recorded or copied. Email [email protected] with your order details.
Refunds remove your access to the course. The goodwill refund is not available where your access has been removed under section 6.
Cancellation form. Complete and return this form only if you wish to cancel.

9. Access period and changes to courses
Unless the course page says otherwise, you have access for as long as the course is offered on this site. We may update, add to or reorganise course content to keep it accurate and useful. If we ever withdraw a course, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email so you can finish it.
10. Availability
The site is hosted by Thinkific. We will do our best to keep it running, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. Occasional maintenance or outages may happen.
11. Course content is for education
The course teaches open source research methods. You are responsible for how you use them. Use them lawfully, ethically and with respect for the privacy and safety of others. Nothing in the course is legal advice.
12. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where digital content is faulty, not as described, or damages your device or other digital content.
Otherwise, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit or business. Our total liability to you for any other claim about a course is limited to the amount you paid for that course.
13. Complaints
If something has gone wrong, email [email protected]. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes in the law, changes to the platform we use, or to protect course content from misuse. We will email you at least 14 days before a change that affects you, and explain why. The version in force when you bought a course applies to that purchase, except for changes required by law. If you don't agree with a change, you can close your account.
15. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, you also keep the protection of any mandatory consumer law in your country of residence.
